A former solider, Sam Kavanagh, has established the veteran’s charity ‘Bootstraps’ in Gatton, Queensland.

Sam started the charity as a result of looking for something for veterans to do, and a way to connect.

Bootstraps teaches leatherwork classes to veterans and the community, allowing veterans to network with those of a similar background.

“It’s a place where they can drop in, have a coffee and a chat to help in the fight against PTSD and other mental illnesses,” Sam said.

Sam contacted Prowler Proof looking for security screens for the building. Without security screens, the charity was unable to get insurance, which meant construction couldn’t continue.

Prowler Proof was happy to provide support to Bootstraps, and provided ForceField security window screens for each window, and Protec security doors for the building, with the help of local Prowler Proof dealer Russell Gander from Safehome Security Screens.

Bootstraps held their official opening on 17 July 2019, attended by several of the Prowler Proof team, and Russell from Safehome.
